Alternative Medicine For Baby Boomers
The Baby Boomer generation (between the ages of 45 and 63, although there is some disagreement as to the exact start/end date of this era) is definitely not known for accepting the downhill descent that ‘growing older’ means to most people! We want to keep our youth, vitality, and health for as long as possible, and alternative medicine gives us the choice to do just that.
Now, I’m not saying that you should ditch your conventional doctor, but if you are interested in alternative medicine, then you should try to find a doctor that promotes and uses alternative medicine as well as traditional medicine; aka integrative medicine, which combines both. Don’t ever try to self-treat yourself, but find a professional medical practitioner who is well qualified to do both. A biased physician who just tells you that alternative methods won’t work, I would run from as fast as possible and find a qualified medical practitioner who will work with you, not against you. It is your body and you do have choices!
I started the AlternativeMedicine4Babyboomers blog because I am a Baby Boomer and feel very strongly about using alternative medicine as a way to promote my own health and well-being. I’ve been interested in (and used) alternative healing methods (other than conventional) for over 20 years. There will be informative, educational, and hopefully, entertaining articles about alternative medicine and how it can be integrated into your own life.
Natural health products and excellent resources are also included on this blog. Music, retro art, and health books (all hand-picked by me) will be offered in their respective online shops without ever leaving this website. All products are directly geared toward Baby Boomers!
I do use my conventional doctor when necessary, but I searched for and found one who practices both traditional and integrative medicine. You should always check with your doctor first, before trying any new alternative medicine healing methods. Don’t forget to tell your doctor exactly what medications, supplements, and herbs you may be taking.
My complaint about conventional medications are that they are so over-used, as we seem to be constantly bombarded with magazine, newspaper, and television ads about all kinds of diseases and how to take a pill for whatever ails you; medicine that will only help diminish/mask the symptoms, but not get to the root of what is causing them. And yes, there are times when conventional medicine may be the only route to go.
There really are other alternatives to conventional medicines, and I plan to give you as much information and resources to help you make a more informed decision. Take control, as it is YOUR life we’re talking about! Remember, always check with a medical professional before you embark on your own personal health journey, preferably an MD such as a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD) who is trained/certified in alternative medicine as well.
I am quite passionate about my own personal health journey; learning and making use of non-traditional ways to help keep me healthy as I age, which I will pass on to you. Everything in this blog will be information about alternative medicine that I have researched and used myself (for certain health issues), which I will always write about here and if they helped me or not.
I am not a medical professional and will refrain from giving out advice, only suggestions and methods that I personally have used to heal myself and/or help keep me healthy. I will give you the information you need so that you can search further as to whether alternative medicine is right for you. It is up to you to be responsible and take charge of your health. Always get second or even third opinions. There is usually more than one protocol to follow for health issues/problems. I only hope to help guide you in the right direction so you, along with your doctor, can make your own decision as to what is right for you.
The path I choose to take to stay healthy and help me when I do have a health issue is the one for the most natural way possible to heal one’s body. I will have a resource category that will help you find alternative medicine physicians (see links in the left side navigator with the title, “Find An AltMed Doctor”), quality supplements, informative books, and also give you lots of researched information so you can decide (or not) to follow your own natural healing path.
I’m sure that many of you Baby Boomers out there do not have the time to research an alternative method of healing or just how to maintain your health, so my goal is to do that for you with well written, informative articles, books, healthy products, and other health resources. It will all be here and categorized on the Alternative Medicine for Baby Boomers blog for easy access. If you sign up for my feed, you will be able to keep up with my current articles on information concerning alternative medicine, especially written for the Baby Boomer generation.

Thanks, would you know of any free online pharmacy services?
I haven’t come across any actual ‘free’ online pharmacies yet (except the one’s listed under “Freebies” on the left-hand side bar (medicine programs you enroll in and free prescriptions from prescription assistance programs), but if I do, I will post the information. I am always searching for these types of things.
